The Spiritual Services team of Episcopal Retirement Homes is the soul of each of our communities. Our chaplains strive to enrich the spiritual lives of residents, with a focus on the tradition and faith journey of each individual. We are ecumenical in our ministry, serving older adults from all denominations as well as those with no affiliation at all. We are here for everyone.
Spiritual health is one of the six dimensions of wellness. Spiritual vitality is so valued within ERH that chaplains serve on staff, not simply "on call" resources. Chief Financial Officer, Paul Scheper, has said, "Chaplains do more than make guest appearances in our lives. They are part of the glue that holds our community together."
At Cambridge Heights, spiritual hospitality is a hallmark of the ministry. Under the auspices of the Rev. John Brandenburg and the people of the East Central Ohio Episcopal Cluster, regularly scheduled worship is provided for the community, as are seasonal celebrations and opportunities for faith formation. We facilitate residents' participation in their own faith communities. We seek and support those opportunities within Cambridge Heights that honor our core values, inviting and encouraging the ministry of residents' faith communities in our midst.
The ministry of the chaplain focuses not only on the residents, but includes staff, volunteers, resident families, and the wider community. Because we care deeply for the soul, enriching the lives of all those who are part of our community is our most important mission.
